Module 1 sets your ceiling
The SAT is adaptive, so Module 1 deserves full focus: it determines which Module 2 a student receives.
A harder Module 2 is good news
A brutal second module can mean the student earned the higher-scoring route. We replace panic with a plan.
Master the Bluebook cockpit
Mark for Review, answer-choice elimination, the Question Menu, timer, and reference sheet become tools—not test-day surprises.
Flag, guess, move, sweep back
Within a module, answer what you can, place a best guess on hard questions, flag them, and return with remaining time.
Use Desmos strategically
Students graph equations, solve systems by intersection, verify quadratics, and use tables or regression when faster than hand algebra.
Read short-passage questions first
On one-question passages, students identify what to look for before reading and watch for pivots like “however” and “although.”

Bank the easy points first
The ACT is linear and every question is worth the same raw point. Students protect their time while easier points remain.
Back-solve from the answers
When numerical choices are provided, test a middle choice instead of automatically doing conventional algebra.
Pick your own numbers
When variables make a problem abstract, students plug in simple numbers and see which choice behaves correctly.
Play passages in your best order
The ACT lets students choose which reading passage to attack first. Strongest genre first; weakest can wait.
Map the passage—don’t memorize it
Read for each paragraph’s job and where information lives, then retrieve evidence as questions demand it.
